Bollinger County Museum

One of the things I'm most thankful for with our new journey in home schooling is all the wonderful friends who are doing it this year too! We have our own little "Home Grown Kids" group of friends. This week our HGK group went to the Bollinger County Museum. Landon and Karis both had a great time!

Music with Friends

Landon went to his first music class and loved it! He will get to attend this once a month and I'm sure he'll continue to enjoy it!!

Back to School Party

A friend of ours who is oh so gracious to us new home schoolers threw a Back to School Party! Landon has an incredible amount of fun playing with all the boys in the creek. It was a fun way to begin the new year with our friends.

My Father's World

We love starting our day by singing the "My Father's World" hymn that goes along with our curriculum. I could listen to these sweet little voices singing all day every day!

Day 3, Day 3 God Made Grass & Flowers & Trees!

You can tell we've hit day three! Our morning didn't go quite so smoothly, but thankfully we got to have a break outdoors! The weather is absolutely beautiful for August. We met some of our other homeschool friends for a walk on the nature trail. Today we learned about day three of creation and how God separated the water and made the dry land. It was a perfect day to explore the dirt, trees, rocks, and plants!

Day 2, Day 2 God Made Clouds and Skies of Blue!!

On to Day 2 and we had another blessed day learning about God's creation, numbers, letters, and more! I think this was Karis' first experience with glue and she did NOT want to stop!

Our routine (as of now) is doing curriculum work in the morning and then during Karis' nap Landon and I read and play games. Today we practiced counting with Hi Ho Cheerios!
Thank you Lord for another blessed day!

First Day of Kindergarten!!

August 12, 2013 marks the first "official" day of our homeschool adventure! Landon is 5 years old and Karis is 2 and we are so excited! We chose the "My Father's World" curriculum and had a great first day. Mommy wanted to name our little school "Centennial Christian Academy" (we live on Centennial Drive), but Landon vetoed that and we will be called "Sonic 5 Christian Academy."  Five is the BEST number right now (or at least Landon thinks so, since he is 5 years old)! It's also a good fit because including Izzie we have 5 in our little family!  We are looking forward to an exciting kindergarten year ahead of us!!!
